A Ballina man has been further remanded in custody on a charge of murdering a local woman last October.
Mr Dean William Richardson (21), of Greenhills Estate, Ballina, appeared in Ballina District Court yesterday on a charge of murdering Ms Gillian Thornton (20) in the town on October 17th, 1997.
When the case was called, evidence of an additional charge was given by Det Sergeant John McCormack. The accused man replied he had nothing to say.
His solicitor, Mr John Gordon, asked that the book of evidence be served without delay.
Judge Dan Shields remanded Mr Richardson in custody to Ballina District Court on February 24th.
