Fianna Fáil TD G. V. Wright has been fined €900 and banned from driving for two years for drink driving. He has also had his driving licence endorsed.

Mr G. V. Wright: in court today on drink driving charges

Mr Wright pleaded guilty in the Dublin District Court this morning to driving with excess alcohol at North Strand Road, Dublin, on September 18th. He was charged as Mr Thomas Wright (58) of The Moorings, Malahide.

He was arrested after he knocked down and injured a nurse, Mrs Ann Butler (50) from North Strand.

Speaking after sentencing outside the court, Mr Wright told reporters he "very much regretted the incident".

He said he hoped the publicity surrounding the case might make others change there habits, particulalrly over the Christmas period.
