The GAA has stated that the organisation is shocked and bemused to learn that the PSNI is conducting an investigation at the Casement Park grounds in Belfast.

The Association has said that it had no prior knowledge of the operation and had not been informed of the reason or justification for the investigation.

The investigation is understood to be linked to the £26.5 million Northern Bank robbery in Belfast last December.

In a statement this afternoon, the GAA said it understood that allegations had been received by the PSNI in regard to an individual and alleged activities totally unrelated to the GAA.

The GAA said that it understands the concerns of the GAA community as two prominent members in Derry were questioned in a high profile manner by the PSNI and released without charge earlier in the week.
