Galway Corporation says it is still working on isolating the pollutant that has made the city’s water undrinkable.
The Corporation hopes to have the problem isolated and solved within the next day or so. A spokesperson for Galway Corporation said if it appears the situation will continue beyond that, the Corporation would provide water tanks for inhabitants of the city, but no plan is in place for doing so yet.
The problem is particularly affecting the area around High Street and Quay Street in the city centre, and Castlepark, Monivey Road, Doughiska and Parkmore, all on the East side of the city.
During routine testing yesterday evening, it emerged that the city’s water supply was contaminated, leading the Corporation to advise city dwellers not to use the water for drinking or brushing teeth. The spokesperson said the water istested approximately every two days.
