Gardaí yesterday appealed for information after a woman was tied up and threatened with a knife in her home.

Two men believed to be in their 20s entered the woman’s home on Green Field Road in Sutton, Co Dublin, at about 8.20am on Wednesday.

The woman, in her 50s, was threatened and a sum of cash was taken from the house.

The masked men left the scene in a BMW 5-Series with a false 03-D registration plate.

The car was found abandoned at nearby Lauder’s Lane a short time later. It is believed the raiders may have changed cars at this location. Both are described as in their 20s and of average height and build. One wore a navy tracksuit, baseball cap, a scarf covering his face, and spoke with a Dublin accent.

Separately, gardaí are appealing for information in relation to an armed robbery at Bank of Ireland on College Green in Dublin yesterday.

Two men carrying a handgun and a shotgun entered the foreign exchange department of the bank at about 11.40am. They hijacked a taxi after getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

In Co Meath, meanwhile, two men were arrested in relation to the robbery of a post office in Clonalvy.
