A garda in the south-west is suing three senior gardaí for alleged bullying and harassment
One of the gardaí against whom the allegations are being made is of a very senior rank.
In a Circuit Court civil bill, the plaintiff alleges he was "grossly bullied and intimidated and harassed" from April 2003 to February 2004 while certified sick for a stress related illness.
Garda representatives had also been sent to his house to encourage him to return to work, he claims in court papers.
The bill was lodged in October and it is expected to be served on the three gardaí in the next fortnight.
The garda is seeking damages from all three in the Circuit Court.
One of the gardaí named in the court papers said yesterday he was unaware of the bill alleging bullying, harassment and intimidation having been lodged in the Circuit Court.
He said he expected such a matter would be handled "through Dublin". Any allegations would "be contested vigorously", he added.
