Gardaí are investigating a shooting in west Dublin last night.

Gardaí are investigating a shooting in west Dublin last night.

The incident happened at around 1 am when shots were fired at a house at Whitechapel Road, Clonsilla. There were no injuries.

The front door of the house was damaged and the scene has been preserved for technical examination. Detectives from Blanchardstown are investigating.

Earlier in the evening, gardaí from the same station swooped on a house in the Whitestown Park area and arrested a 33-year old man.

A firearm and ammunition was recovered in the operation and he is being held under the Offences Against the State Act at Blanchardstown station where he can detained for up to 72 hours without charge.
