Gardaí have named the man who died in a crash in Cootehill, Co Cavan on Monday.

Gardaí have named the man who died in a crash in Cootehill, Co Cavan on Monday.

He was Fathy Ghrabeel (36) from Main Street, Cavan Town. His is originally from Egypt.

He died after his car went out of control and hit a tree at 9.15am at Tullyvin, Cootehill last Monday. A passenter in the car was take to Cavan General Hospital in critical condition.

A total of 257 people have been killed on the State's roads this year, 10 more than the same period last year.
