Gardaí at Newbridge have appealed for information in their investigation into a fatal hit-and-run incident in Co Kildare early yesterday morning.

The incident happened between midnight and 2 a.m. on Friday morning. Gardaí believe the man who died was standing at the side of the road talking to another motorist after his car had run out of petrol when he was hit.

Gardai say they would like to speak to anyone who travelled on the road between Kilcullen and Athy, or anyone who may have noticed a dark green car travelling along that road during those hours.

They believe the front of the car was damaged in the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardai in Newbridge on 045-431212 or on the Garda confidential number - 1800 666111.
