Gardaí have uncovered a significant arms cache hidden in a plastic drum in County Donegal.
The discovery was made in a wooded area in Porthill, five miles from Lifford in County Donegal.
It is understood the haul, comprising 100 lbs of homemade explosives, a detonator, three timing power units, two handguns and 100 rounds of ammunition was made after Gardaí received a tip-off.
Gardaí are investigating the possibility of a link between the find and dissident republican activity in the area.
