Detectives investigating the murder of a Galway taxidriver, Ms Eileen Costello-O'Shaughnessy, in 1997 have appealed for fresh information which could yield "valuable information".

Gardai want to trace the woman driver of a car who gave a male hitch-hiker a lift into Galway city on the afternoon of November 30th, 1997, the day Ms Costello-O'Shaughnessy was killed. The hitch-hiker was picked up between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the R365, which runs off the N63 main Galway-Roscommon road, and was dropped off near the Galway shopping centre on the Headford Road between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
