With Shannon’s match against Cork Constitution being played tomorrow, Garryowen took full advantage to go top of the AIL division one by beating Carlow by 40-7 at Dooradoyle.

Clontarf moved into second place behind them with a narrow 19-21victory at headquarters over Lansdowne.

At the other end of the table, DLSP – who were defeated 18-29 at home to Blackrock – were overtaken by both Galwegians and Ballymena. Galwegians had a tight 18-17 home win over St Mary’s, while Ballymena had a good away win, defeating the in form UCD 19-31 at Belfield. Those results leave DLSP second from bottom.

Terenure College moved themselves nearer the top teams with a comprehensive 38-6 home win over Buccaneers.
