Georgian Limerick plea

THE Irish Georgian Society has asked the Minister for Finance to assist in the preservation of Georgian Limerick.

THE Irish Georgian Society has asked the Minister for Finance to assist in the preservation of Georgian Limerick.

Members of the Limerick chapter of the society, along with the president of the IGS, the Knight of Glin, Desmond Fitzgerald, met Mr Quinn and proposed that the Newtown Pery area of the city be made a tax designated area.

The chairman of the Limerick chapter, Mr Joe McMahon, told The Irish Times yesterday that existing property owners in the Georgian belt felt aggrieved that the Georgian area was omitted from successive designated areas in other parts of the city.
