GEORGIA: The Georgian government has denied it planned to act militarily against one of its three "autonomous republics", Adjara, writes David Shanks.
The minister for the autonomous republics, Mr Giorgi Khaindrava, said the leader of Adjara, Mr Aslan Abashidze, had "lost touch with reality" and his allegation of a military train being loaded for dispatch to his Black Sea republic could constitute a crime. Mr Abashidze had said an army mutiny prevented the train from leaving.
