Getting more personal

READERS of Social and Personal magazine have been treated in the past to publisher Nell Stewart Liberty's popular if slightly tongue in cheek lists nominating who has the best eyes, legs, and even bottom (!) in the country. This week's announcement of "Best Lips" awards, which will feature in the next issue of the magazine, caused one wag to speculate that now all the obvious body parts have been considered, the judges will have to move on to internal organs.

Among the lippy winners were Virginia Fortune, the self described "hostess with the mostest" at the Commons Restaurant, who won "Most Sociable Lips" and RTE's Ray D'Arcy, who won the "Most Well Presented Lips", much to the amusement of his girlfriend, Rachel Flanagan. Both were at the party to announce the awards (though curiously no actual awards were given), as was the designer Lainey Keogh, who won in the "Most Well Designed Lips" category.

Explaining her presence in Dublin when the rest of the fashion world is swirling around Europe at the collections, Lainey explained that her autumn/winter collection went to Milan, London and Paris with her trusty assistants Marianne Gunn O'Connor and Pat O'Brien. She's happier avoiding the crowds at home and at the end of the month she's off to an even less crowded place when she heads for Jamaica for a month's holiday with pal Marianne Faithfull. They'll be staying at Ian Fleming's old home, Goldeneye.
