A 16-year-old girl was in a critical condition in hospital today after she was hit by a car in Dublin.

A 16-year-old girl was in a critical condition in hospital today after she was hit by a car in Dublin.

The girl was crossing the road at Annesley Bridge in Fairview when she was knocked down at 11.30pm last night.

A Garda spokesman said she was taken to the Mater Hospital, where she is in intensive care.

Gardai are investigating the incident.

There have been 33 pedestrians killed on the roads so far this year out of a total of 160 deaths.
