On his last day in the witness box at the Flood Tribunal, James Gogarty addressed parting words to the judge. Could I give you a bit of advice, he asked. An embarrassed Mr Justice Flood declined, saying: "You never know what might be taken by your advice." With that, Gogarty picked up his stick and headed off into the sunset.
There has been much curiosity since as to what the rejected advice might have been. Now the legal eagles at the Castle believe they know - Gogarty wished to tell the judge: "Make sure before you leave here that you have a decent pension."
