THE Government had received no warning from any of its contacts in the republican movement about an impending break in the ceasefire, the Minister for Justice, Mrs Owen confirmed yesterday.

Speaking to journalists at the Garda College, Temple more, Co Tipperary, the Minister added it was for Sinn Fein to say whether it knew of the London attack in advance.

According to reports in Washington, the Sinn Fein leader, Mr Adams, spoke to a senior US official on Friday before the bombing to say he had heard "disturbing rumours".

But Mrs Owen said that neither the Garda nor the Government had prior warning of the bomb or the ending of the ceasefire. She also confirmed that security arrangements in the State were being reviewed after the London bombing.
