PARIS - A gunman staged a hostage-taking in the heart of Paris yesterday, causing an area near the Boulevard Haussman shopping district to be temporarily blocked off, before giving himself up to police.
Two people were slightly injured as Mr Jean Former (45), described as a disgruntled former employee of an investment bank, fired shots at the start of the lunchtime incident.
