London - A proof copy of the first Harry Potter novel, bought in a charity shop for 50p, sold at auction yesterday for £4,830.
The white paperback version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was sold by Bloomsbury Book Auctions to a private collector.
It is thought to be the first proof copy out of 200 published to be auctioned.
