A pub licence from a bar in Crosshaven, Co Cork is to be transferred to the new multi-million shopping centre in Dundrum, Dublin.
Harvey Nichols, the international retailer of upmarket fashion and lifestyle branded products, has been guaranteed a drinks licence for its planned pub and restaurant in the 18-acre town centre in Dundrum, the first phase of which opens before Easter.
Judge Doirbhile Flanagan granted the company a declaratory order in the Circuit Licensing Court which means that if the development is completed in accordance with plans outlined to the court yesterday the granting of a drinks licence will be automatic.
Ms Constance Cassidy SC, for Harvey Nichols, said the company, in its first development in Ireland, would provide the anchor store over three floors in the 250-shop development along with a restaurant, brasserie and bar.
The licence of The Moorings Bar had been bought for the purpose of transferring it to the Dundrum development.
Mr Barry Tallintire, property and facilities controller for Harvey Nichols, said the company had been formed in the early 1800s in Knightsbridge, London, and as well as stores throughout the UK now had developments, similar to the company's Dundrum plans, in Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Dubai. Mr Tallintire told the court the company had high quality hospitality areas including restaurants and bars in all of its developments to promote the company concept of the shopping experience being a leisure activity.
