Avoid foods that can lead to inflammation

According to new research from the University of South Carolina, people who eat inflammatory foods such as those with high fat and sugar content, have a greater risk of cancer and other diseases than people who eat a healthier diet.

Inflammation is an immune response that helps our bodies heal, but when it is out of whack, it can damage the body’s tissues. Inflammation is thought to be a factor in obesity, heart disease and cancer.

Check out this article in Prevention Magazine for a few common foods that can cause inflammation. The culprits are vegetable oils, refined grains contained in bread and biscuits, MSG (monosodium glutamate), fizzy drinks and fatty cuts of red meat.
