Walking, running and swimming are all great ways of getting a cardiovascular workout, but don’t forget resistance or weight training too, which targets muscles to make them stronger, fitter and work more effectively.
Gyms offer plenty of resistance equipment such as free and fixed weights and machines, but if you would rather strengthen your muscles at home, an elastic resistance band is a cheap option that won’t take up half your house.
Get guidance from a trainer about how to work your muscles in a way that will strengthen and tone them. Fitter muscles means you will keep your metabolism in better nick too, so resistance (exercise) is definitely not futile.
