The West Tipperary Mental Health Association and the Friends of Mount Sion Community Residence will host a health promotion evening, entitled Building Resilience Together, tomorrow at 8pm at Ballykisteen Hotel and Golf Resort, Limerick Junction, Tipperary.
The event will be followed by presentations from guest speakers, including presidential candidate Seán Gallagher, actor Mary McEvoy and consultant psychiatrist Dr Alan Moore.
More than 400 retired men and women are expected to take part in the National Bowls Tournament from September 26th-29th in the Breaffy Events Arena in Castlebar, Co Mayo. This is the second year of the Active Retirement Ireland tournament where participants compete for the Breaffy Perpetual Cup.
Women who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer are invited to attend the Irish Cancer Society’s free annual conference, Supporting Women with Breast Cancer, on Saturday, September 10th at Croke Park Conference Centre, Dublin.
Highlights from this year’s conference include Dr Cathy Kelly, medical oncologist, Mater hospital, Dublin, presenting updates on breast cancer treatments; Prof Robert Coleman, Weston Park Hospital, Sheffield, outlining the latest research on bone health and breast cancer; and Marie Murphy, exercise specialist, Mind Body Soul Fitness, who will discuss the impact her work is having on breast cancer survivors. Drewstown House is the starting point for the Kells Pink Ribbon Walk on Saturday.
The 10k walk, in aid of Action Breast Cancer, is expected to raise up to €100,000 and will add to the €340,000 already collected in four other walks in Kells and Killaloe since 2009.
