Dublin bakery given prohibition order for desserts by Food Safety Authority of Ireland

A Co Kildare restaurant is among two eateries for which closure orders were issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) in October.

Curry Leaf , an Indian restaurant in Athy, Co Kildare and The Crescent View Restaurant in Waterford were both closed for a period by health inspectors.

Ina’s Kitchen Desserts in Walkinstown, Dublin 12 was issued with a prohibition order in relation to its chilled strawberry crumble mousse desserts

FSAI chief executive Pamela Byrne said food businesses need to be vigilant and “must recognise that the legal onus is on them to make sure that the food they sell or serve is safe to eat.”

A closure order is served “where it is deemed that there is or there is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health at or in the premises; or where an Improvement Order is not complied with”. A Prohibition Order is issued if the activities involve or are likely to involve a “serious risk to public health” from a particular food.
