Discussion on suicide and the press
The Press Council of Ireland will hold a public meeting on suicide and the press in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise, Co Laois, at 8pm tomorrow. Prof Tom Mitchell, chairman of the Press Council, will chair the meeting which will be addressed by Dr John Connolly of the Irish Association of Suicidology.
Film tells story of top psychoanalyst
My Name was Sabina Spielrein, the drama documentary film about the Russian Jewish woman who was a former patient of psychoanalyst Carl Jung will be shown on Friday at 7pm in the Milltown Institute, Milltown Park, Ranelagh, Dublin. Spielrein corresponded through letters with Jung and Sigmund Freud for many years before she became one of the first female psychoanalysts and a specialist in schizophrenia. Directed by Elizabeth Marton and admission is free.
Forum on osteoarthritis
A public forum on the current treatments and future therapies for osteoarthritis will be held at the G Hotel conference centre, Galway city, next Tuesday at 7.30pm. Speakers include Prof Frank Barry, from the Regenerative Medicine Institute (Remedi) at NUI Galway, orthopaedic surgeon William Curtin and Philip Gleeson from Arthritis Ireland. Admission free. Healthy eating pack for kids
Taste Buds is a new teacher-led CD resource to teach five to 12 year olds about healthy eating and physical activity. Meeting on iron disorder
An information meeting on Haemochromatosis, the genetic condition which leads to excess storage of iron in the body, goes ahead on Thursday in the Catherine McCauley Education Centre, Nelson St, Dublin, at 8pm.
