Tallaght hospital introduces restrictions on visits

Public asked to avoid non-essential visits due to outbreak of winter vomiting bug

Tallaght hospital is requesting the public’s co-operation in avoiding non-essential patient visits to the facility in the coming days as the hospital deals with an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

In a statement, the hospital said members of the public are requested to postpone patient visits with the exception of visitors to critically ill patients and parents of children in the National Children's Hospital.

No children are allowed to visit either the adult or children’s hospital.

The statement said the restrictions will be reviewed on a daily basis.

The hospital’s outpatient departments are operating as normal but patients are asked not to attend if they have symptoms of vomiting or diarrhoea and instead to contact the hospital to reschedule their appointment.

Emergency services continue to operate as normal but the public are being advised to contact their GP in the first instance.
