Visitor restrictions at Beaumont due to flu

Some 187 cases of influenza recorded at hospital since mid-February

Beaumont Hospital in Dublin has urged people not to visit patients over the weekend to avoid the spread of flu.

Visitng restrictions will remain in place throughtout Bank Holiday weekend.

Sine the outbreak in mid-February, 187 cases of influenza have been recorded in the hospital, Beauont said in a statement.

It warned of the risks of flu, particularly to those patients with serious underling medical conditions.

Visitors in general will not be allows to acces the hospital, including the emergency unit, the hospital said .

Essential visiting only is allowed between 6pm and 8pm with just one visitor per patient, it said.
