Racing: Hear The Echo sprung a 33-1 surprise in the Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National for Mouse Morris and Paddy Flood, romping home for an eight to 10 length victory over Tony Martin's 6-1 joint-favourite Royal County Star.
The seven-year-old took up the running turning into the straight but Timmy Murphy came looming up on the ante-post gamble, Royal County Star.
Murphy had nursed his mount into contention but he appeared not to stay the trip, leaving Hear The Echo to come home in splendid isolation.
French novice Notre Pere was third ahead of the Michael Hourigan-trained A New Story in fourth place.
The latter's veteran stablemate Beef Or Salmon trailed home in last place.
Well Run and The Outlier were at the head of affairs for most of the contest, jumping for fun under their light weights.
The mare and joint-favourite Cailin Alainn suffered her old jumping problems and was never competitive.
Hear The Echo was racing from half a stone out of the handicap but was given a confident ride by Flood, who narrowly missed out on breaking his duck at the Cheltenham Festival on the Morris-trained Venalmar.
"We thought he was well. He was a bit wrong in the handicap, but the ground helped," trainer Morris said afterwards. "We always thought he would get the trip, I'd say he wants about five miles!
"I think you'd have to say he could be an Aintree horse for the future, he wouldn't have got into it this year but hopefully after that he should have a chance next year.
"The other horse (Royal County Star) looked to be going well, but Paddy hadn't gone for him and he jumped so well.
"The horses were sick around January and we haven't had a winner for a while so it's nice to get back on the board."
