Although no longer a fully functioning 8-legged music monster, Dublin-based band Something Happens are still able to pull in the crowds whenever they want to. Since their effective demise some time ago, lead singer Tom Dunne has become a cracking rock music radio presenter courtesy of Today FM's Pet Sounds, bassist Alan Byrne is the music consultant for RTE's Late Late Show, guitarist Ray Harman is a valued guesting musician and producer, and drummer Eamonn Ryan a music industry sound/touring veteran. Collectively, the quartet remains one of Ireland's most sadly missed and smartest rock groups, which makes it all the more special to see them whenever they play live. The day: today. The venue: Dublin's Whelans. The philosophy: you're never too old to have a happy childhood.
