Stephen Hendry brushed past Jimmy White in Cardiff today to remain on course for a successful Welsh Open title defence.

Hendry led 33-14 in total career meetings entering this third round encounter, so it was no surprise that he claimed his place in the quarter-finals with a convincing 5-1 victory.

Hendry said:  "I'm playing great. When I get in the balls I don't feel like missing and my safety is pretty decent at the moment."

White has not beaten Hendry in a ranking event since a 10-4 success in the first round at the Crucible six years ago.
