Holy Orders finally consented to work today ahead of his bid for the Melbourne Cup, much to the delight of trainer Willie Mullins.

The six-year-old gelding cantered seven furlongs at Sandown racecourse with British raider, Jardines Lookout, trained by Alan Jarvis.

Orders, the only Irish entry in next Tuesday's race and a 30-1 outsider to repeat Media Puzzle's success at the Flemington track, had steadfastly refused to gallop since arriving at the quarantine stables in Sandown, 20 kilometres outside Melbourne.

"He's much better and did a full round canter of about seven furlongs with Jardines Lookout," said Mullins. "He had a completely different attitude. We didn't need any whips or spurs or anything to cajole him.

Holy Orders was partnered by Mal Ollerton, who along with problem-horse guru Ross McDonald have been assisting the Mullins team.
