A man honoured earlier this month as Carlow's Person of the Century has died aged 95

A man honoured earlier this month as Carlow's Person of the Century has died aged 95. Mr Paddy Dowling, a retired ESB engineer, of Linkards town, Tinryland, helped change the face of rural Ireland through his involvement in rural electrification. Mr Dowling was honoured by the Old Carlow Society at a gala function when Mr Ken O'Hara, chief executive of the ESB, described him as one of the major players in the revolution of electrification.
