Racing:Richard Hughes will not compete in this weekend's Breeders' Cup and instead will stay in Britain in an attempt to claw back Paul Hanagan's lead at the summit of the jockeys' championship.
The biggest ride Hughes will relinquish at Churchill Downs is Paco Boy, who runs against Goldikova in the Breeders' Cup Mile on Saturday and will now have Ryan Moore's assistance.
Moore, whose mount will break from gate six in the 11-runner field, said: "It's a shame for Hughesie, but it's a lovely spare to get."
Goldikova has been drawn in stall 10 as the wonder mare looks to win the race for a third time.
Hughes is currently three winners adrift of Hanagan after reducing the deficit with a double at Kempton, but he will be unable to ride on Friday as he will have reached his quota of nine fixtures for a week.
Hughes kicked off an excellent day's work at Kempton when guiding Love You Louis (8-1) to victory in the Dalmore Sixty Four Year Old Handicap, bouncing out of the stalls on John Jenkins' four-year-old, grabbing the rail and never seeing another rival.
He quickly followed up as Sylvester Kirk's Lady Lam (15-8 favourite) gained a last-gasp verdict in the Whyte And Mackay Handicap, responding well for pressure and staying on strongly in the final furlong to nail Bubbly Braveheart by a neck.
There was a slight sting in the tail for Hughes as he was handed a three-day suspension (November 16-18) for using his whip with excessive frequency, but that will not affect the title fight.
Coral cut Hughes to 3-1 from 7-1 and their spokesman David Stevens said: "Although time is running out for Richard Hughes, his Kempton double has kept the race alive, and Paul Hanagan backers can't celebrate just yet."
The duel will continue on Wednesday, with Hughes booked for six rides at Nottingham and another six at Kempton. Hanagan has no rides at Colwick Park, but a full book of eight at the evening fixture.
