Work on extending the courthouse in Trim, Co Meath, was interrupted yesterday by the uncovering of human remains believed to be at least 100 years old. An arm and a leg were unearthed in the car park at the rear of the existing court building, and gardai were contacted.
Last night the Garda Press Office said the remains appeared to be about 100 years old and that the State Pathologist would not be visiting the scene. They will most likely will be examined by the Office of Public Works. There was a medieval Franciscan friary on the site.
