The search is continuing in Limerick for a 25-year-old man who escaped from custody while receiving hospital treatment.
The inmate who was in the custody of prison officers at the time, escaped after while he was being seeing to by a nurse.
It's understood he struck and then kicked a prison officer knocking him to the ground before he made his getaway.
The incident took place shortly after 9am yesterday
The man is serving a sentence for a burglary conviction at Limerick Prison and is not due for release until next Summer.
He is originally from the north side of Limerick city.
Gardaí from across Limerick are involved in the search.
"There have been no sightings yet but searches in the investigation is ongoing," said a garda spokesman.
The Irish Prison Service is also investigating the circumstances surrounding the escape.
