Husband lied to judge, court told

EDINBURGH - The husband seeking to bar his wife from having an abortion had lied to a judge, a court was told yesterday. Ms Anne Smith QC, for Ms Lynn Kelly, stunned the Court of Sessions in Edinburgh by producing papers that showed Mr James Kelly had been convicted for attacking his partner nine months after their wedding in 1995.

In his successful application for an interim interdict against his estranged wife's plan to terminate her two month old pregnancy, Mr Kelly (28), from Fife, had alleged that she had "falsely represented" to doctors that he had assaulted her.
