BUJUMBURA - The main Hutu party in Burundi said yesterday it would boycott parliament's first session since a coup in July, paralysing a bid to get the legislative body back into action.
The secretary general of the Front for Democracy in Burundi Mr Augustin Nzojibwami, said those of his party's deputies who survived the civil war would not vote on legislation and the elected parliament would not function until conditions had been met. Twenty two of the 65 Frodebu deputies elected in 1993 have been killed.
