'I think it's a terrible thing to happen. I'm worried about toxins'

The Irish Times talks to residents about the incinerator

The Irish Timestalks to residents about the incinerator

Alish Curtis, Ringsend

It is disgraceful what's going on but we really didn't think it was going to happen. I am worried about all the toxic wastes and the extra traffic . . . I'm disgusted with John Gormley but we are not going to give up too easily.

Douglas Rowand, Ballsbridge

I think it's a terrible thing to happen. I'm worried about toxins, pollution and the fact that it is in a populated area and traffic is bad enough as it is. I haven't been into it since they came up with the idea.

John Graham, Ringsend

John Gormley will never get in around here again after that. I'm worried about health because of course it will affect us. Traffic will get worse as there is only one road in and one road out so it has to go somewhere.

Alice Foley, Ringsend

We already get smells now and we are going to get smells again. I think it is a disgrace I really do. The way John Gormley is after getting into Government and he was against it all the time.

Michael Malone, Irishtown

Traffic is one of my deepest worries. You go down that road any night during the week you can't move for traffic. I would be against it but if I got a job in it I might think differently!

Robert Hayes-McCoy, Sandymount

The incinerator I have no problem with, but they don't have a track record you can trust them with. It is like the sewage, we were promised wonderful things but when you put the dog out at night, you can still smell it.
