Another set of identical twins will be representing Ireland on the international stage in the coming months and they will not be Jedward.
Mark and Owen Byrne (10) from Walkinstown, Dublin, will compete for Ireland at the World Sport Stacking Championships. The sport involves arranging sport stacking cups called speed stacks in certain sequences against a clock which measures times to one-hundredth of a second.
The boys won the Fruice Dilute All-Ireland Championship in Dublin, and travel to Frankfurt on April 14th and 15th for the competition as part of the eight-person Irish team.
The Byrnes are limbering up for the competition by competing against each other. “Having a twin is great,” said Mark Byrne. “I’ve always got someone to race against, and we keep one another on our toes.”
Owen Byrne said he and his twin brother would be competing together in two competitions and against each other in two other competitions.
The Irish team comprises of the twins, James Carrigan and Michelle Bergin from Kilkenny, Adam Turner and Enya Quill from Cork, Kevin Flanagan from Dundrum, and Andrew Morton from Northern Ireland.
