Man claims RTE celebrity show idea was his
A man has brought a High Court action claiming the idea for the TV show Celebrity Bainisteoir was his and there has been a breach of copyright.
Patrick Kinsella, Callowhill, Newtown, Wicklow, brought his proceedings against the TV show’s commissioning editors, Gráinne McAleer and Alice O’Sullivan, RTÉ director general Cathal Goan and writer Fiona Looney.
Mr Kinsella has alleged breach of copyright by the defendants.
The show, in which eight celebrities coach a football team, contains over 80 per cent of the idea he had put forward, Mr Kinsella claims.
The defendants reject the allegations.
Jury deliberations in murder trial
The jury in the trial of a man and woman accused of murdering a taxi driver in Blanchardstown, west Dublin last year began its deliberations at the Central Criminal Court last night on day 12 of the trial.
Carlos Byrne (23) and Lindsey Fahy (26), both Linnetsfield Square, Clonee, Co Meath, have denied murdering Mark Smyth (31) in front of his girlfriend and young child at Fortlawn Avenue on March 18th, 2008.
Inquest into Navan roadside death
The Garda Ombudsman Commission is awaiting direction from the DPP’s office in relation to the death of a 75-year-old woman who died after being struck by a car driven by an off-duty garda, an inquest heard yesterday. Clare Barr, The Paddock, Ashtown Gate, Dublin was fatally injured in the incident which occurred on the Navan Road on September 21st, 2007.
