Removal of murdered man's remains
The remains of murder victim Pat Coleman were removed to St Joseph's church in Ballybrown, Co Limerick, yesterday.
The 33-year-old died after he was attacked in the early hours of Monday morning near his home in John Carew Park in Limerick.
A number of teenage boys presented themselves to gardaí earlier this week and are "assisting" with the investigation.
Mr Coleman's parents, Gemma and Pat, who live in Sligo, will lead mourners at today's funeral Mass.
He is also survived by his two daughters Kila (6) and Óran (8) as well as his two brothers and two sisters.
Gardaí name road death victim
Gardaí in Ballyshannon, Co Donegal, have named the woman who was killed in Tuesday's fatal road traffic collision near Pettigo as Catherine Monaghan (56), from Laghy, Co Donegal.
Woman in channel swim
A 41-year-old HSE employee was last night attempting to become the first Donegal woman to swim the English Channel.
Anne-Marie Ward, from Portnablagh, left the Dover coastline at 3.00am yesterday morning and was hoping to reach France before midnight last night.
She is hoping to raise up to €20,000 through sponsorship for the Donegal Hospice.
Detain Travellers, says councillor
Cllr Seán McEniff has said that Travellers camping illegally in Bundoran, Co Donegal, at weekends should be detained until they can be brought to court on Monday morning.
The Bundoran hotelier made the comments as Bundoran Town Council discussed an incident where Travellers recently camped in an area reserved for buses and coaches over a weekend.
"They are very clever," he said. "They come in on a Friday at 3pm and the next court is not until Monday.
"I think we should arrest them and keep them until Monday morning to teach them a lesson."
Young farmer of the year crowned
Bryan Daniels, a 27-year-old dairy farmer from Kilmoganny, Co Kilkenny, has been crowned Macra na Feirme Young Farmer of the Year.
Second and third in the competition were Darren Healy from Co Wicklow and John Cahalan from Co Tipperary.
