Olmert, Abbas to work on peace deal

JERUSALEM -Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas are getting to work this week on formulating a joint vision of a peace deal to be presented at a November peace conference, their aides said last night.

The two sides are far apart on how specific the document should be - while the Palestinians want a detailed framework, Israel wants a shorter and vaguer statement. - ( AP )

TBILISI-Opponents of Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili have vowed to unite for the first time to oppose the government. They accuse Mr Saakashvili of heading a corrupt government, accusations he has dismissed as lies.
