The volume of industrial production has risen by 5.1 per cent in the three months to May, according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
This is significantly less that the 8.8 per cent growth recorded by the CSO for the three months to April. The unadjusted year-on-year increase for May was 1.5 per cent compared with a 3.7 per cent rise in April.
Month-on-month, the volume of output rose 1.7 per cent in May compared with an 8.3 per cent fall in April, and 1.5 per cent rise a year earlier.
The figure for May is an early estimate based on the actual returns by companies that have already responded for that month. Detailed figures will be published by the end of July, the CSO said.
