A company representing some 4,000 people living near Weston Aerodrome, Lucan, west Dublin, will seek an order from the High Court on Monday to restrain a flying school from engaging in dangerous overflights of the area.

Ms Justice Laffoy yesterday told Mr Brendan Kilty SC, for Combined Action on Weston Airport Ltd, that his clients could serve notice of the proposed injunction application on the two defendants, National Flight Centre Ltd and Mr Kieran O'Connor, stated to be head of training with that company and owner of a number of aircraft.

In an affidavit presented to the court, Mr Hugh Collendar, a director of the plaintiff company, said it was formed by an association of residents in the areas of Lucan and Celbridge, Co Kildare.

Its object was to take action to prevent aircraft flying into and out of Weston Aerodrome from posing a danger to the life and property of the residents in the vicinity. Mr Collendar said residents had complained for some time about dangerous flights over houses at altitudes as low as 100 and 150 feet, causing fear, upset and stress to residents.
