The number of injured in yesterday’s double-decker train crash outside Washington DC has risen to 90, including 30 seriously.
Rail experts say the investigation will probably focus on whether the heat caused the track to buckle. Temperatures were over 90°F at the time of the derailment.
The train, the Capitol Limited, was travelling from Chicago with 173 passengers and crew members and jumped the tracks 10 miles from its destination.
The wreck involved two locomotives, eight occupied cars and four unoccupied cars.
