The Garda in Co Offaly are continuing their investigations today into the death of a 25-year-old man who was found shot dead in a house near Birr.
The local man, who has not yet been named, was fatally wounded after being shot a number of times in the lower body at a house in Belmount at 9.40 p.m. last night.
Gardaí believe the man was one of a number of people at a party in the house last night, and carrying out interviews with people who are thought to have been there.
The man's body has been removed to Tullamore General Hospital, where the State Pathologist Dr John Harbison is expected to conduct a post mortem examination this evening.
