Tehran - Iranian female MP, Mrs Jamileh Kadivar yesterday, came out in support for the presence of women in government, just days after hostile remarks made by a male MP outraged female politicians.
"We have repeatedly witnessed a violation of women's rights," Mrs Kadivar told reporters during a press conference in Tehran, adding that "certain key figures in [the government] still share dogmatic views dating back to 1,400 years".
Mrs Kadivar's remarks comes in reaction to last week's comments by the parliament's deputy speaker, Mr Mohsen Armin. Mr Armin had said "it was not dignified for women to be put on display in government".
