Iraqi envoys to UN defect

United Nations - A senior diplomat at the Iraqi mission to the UN has sought political asylum in the United States and another has refused to return home. Mr Mohammed Al-Humaimidi, the deputy ambassador, had asked for asylum, and Mr Fela Hesan Al-Rubaei, a minister plenipotentiary, had disappeared, a source close to Mr Al-Rubaei said.
