Galway man dies in collision with road train in Western Australia

Tributes have been paid to a Galway man who has died in a road collision in Australia.

Ger Scully (30) was killed when his car was in collision with a road train in Western Australia.

The accident happened shortly before 6pm local time on Sunday evening at South Hedland. He died at the scene. His family are being comforted at their home at Woodpark in Annaghdown in Galway.

Mr Scully worked in the mines in Australia, having emigrated a few years ago and was due to come home for Christmas. Mr Scully had planned to leave Western Australia next week and come home via Vietnam.

Mr Scully is survived by his parents Paddy and Bridie, two brothers and two sisters.
